About These Drawings

The following images I've painstakingly created to provide reference information as to where basic amenities and common things people inquire about on VIA Rail trains are. It is my goal to have all current, at the time of writing, VIA Rail revenue equipment shown here. However, I've not finished making them, as each drawing takes a few hours to do.

Corridor Fleet

HEP2 Cars

The HEP2 cars are a series of single-level passenger cars with Head-End Power (HEP) that were originally built by Budd. VIA Rail acquired them from Amtrak and refurbished them for its Corridor fleet, where they provided reliable and comfortable service for intercity travel for decades.

LRC Cars

The LRC (Light, Rapid, Comfortable) cars, built by Bombardier, were originally designed and built in Canada for high-speed tilting operations. They were the primary intercity passenger cars for the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor for many years before being replaced by the newer Venture fleet.

LRC Economy Car

LRC (Light, Rapid, Comfortable) Economy Cars were a significant part of VIA Rail's fleet, designed for high-speed intercity travel, primarily in the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor. These cars were known for their tilting mechanism, which allowed them to navigate curves at higher speeds, and offered comfortable seating for passengers.

RDC Cars

Rail Diesel Cars (RDC), built by the Budd Company, are self-propelled diesel multiple units that were historically used by VIA Rail on various local and regional routes.
