About These Drawings

The following images I've painstakingly created to provide reference information as to where basic amenities and common things people inquire about on Amtrak trains are. It is my goal to have all current, at the time of writing, Amtrak revenue equipment shown here. However, I've not finished making them, as each drawing takes a few hours to do.

Single-Level Fleet

Amfleet I Coach

Amfleet 1 coach cars are iconic single-level passenger cars that have been a staple of Amtrak's fleet since the mid-1970s. Known for their distinctive round shape, these coaches were designed for shorter-distance travel. They feature vestibules on both ends for faster boarding and deboarding and provide comfortable seating for passengers. While some Amfleet 1 cars have been retired or repurposed, many remain in service, continuing to transport travelers across the United States.

Amfleet I cafe cars are iconic single-level passenger cars that have been a staple of Amtrak's fleet since the mid-1970s. They feature vestibules on both ends for faster boarding and deboarding and provide tablle and counter seating for passengers. While some Amfleet I cars have been retired or repurposed, many remain in service, continuing to transport travelers across the United States.

Many Amfleet II cars are still in service today, providing comfortable and modern transportation for Amtrak passengers.

Amfleet II cafe cars are a newer generation of passenger cars that replaced many of the older Amfleet I cars in Amtrak's fleet. The Cafe/Business cars feature table seating for cafe customers on one half of the car, and business class seating on the other half. These cars are designed for both long-distance and short-distance travel and offer improved amenities, such as larger windows, more legroom, and upgraded seating. Many Amfleet II cars are still in service today, providing comfortable and modern transportation for Amtrak passengers

Viewliner I Sleeper

Viewliner I Sleeping cars are a type of single-level sleeper car used by Amtrak on long-distance trains. They were introduced in the 1990s and are known for their modern design, comfortable accommodations, and spacious interiors. Viewliner Sleeping cars are used primarily on long-distance routes in and out of New York Penn Station.

Acela First Class

Dual-Level Fleet

Superliner Cars

Amtrak's Superliner fleet is a collection of double-decker passenger cars used on long-distance trains. These iconic cars offer a variety of accommodations, including coach seating, sleeping accomidations, dining cars, and lounge cars. Superliner cars are equipped with modern amenities like power outlets, and air conditioning, making them comfortable for long journeys.

Superliner Coach

Superliner Coach cars are double-decker cars with seating on both levels. The lower level is designed for accessibility, while the upper level offers regular seating.

Superliner Coach Baggage

Superliner Coach Baggage cars have seating only on the upper level, while the lower level is used for checked baggage storage. Bathrooms are located on the lower level for passenger convenience.

Superliner Sleeper

Superliner Sleeping Cars offer a variety of sleeping accommodations, including roomettes on both levels, bedrooms on the upper level, and specialized bedrooms on the lower level. These cars also feature shared bathrooms and a shower on the lower level.

Superliner Deluxe Sleeper

Superliner Deluxe Sleeping Cars are only used on the Auto Train and offer larger bedrooms on the upper level. The lower level maintains the standard sleeping car layout.

Superliner Transition Sleeper

Superliner Transition Sleeping Cars are designed to connect Amtrak's Superliner trains to other types of trains. They feature smaller roomettes on the upper level. The lower level houses the standard sleeping car complement of bathrooms and an accessible bedroom. However, instead of the usual roomettes, the lower level features a crew lounge for train staff.
