Brief

Sponsor A Student is a nonprofit social justice program empowering youth in the rural Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India. By partnering Unitarian Universalist churches in the west with non-denominational Unitarian run primary schools, we provide essential funding and foster cross-cultural connections through pen-pal relationships.

The Ann Arbor chapter of Sponsor A Student, affectionately known as “Big Hearts,” sought to develop a unified brand identity to engage congregation members. This included creating visually compelling materials such as flyers, signage, and annual registration forms.

Designers Statement

As a long-time supporter, I approached this pro bono project with deep personal connection. The “Big Hearts” concept inspired a logo symbolising the unity between sponsors and students through a heart made up of students and sponsors. To maintain consistency with the local church, I selected a complimentary sage green colour palette. The form branding is further unified by a simple form design featuring a green banner and colour-coded year indicators. Primary sponsorship flyers adhere to the green theme, while purple accents are used for additional project highlights.
